About The Department of Art History

The Department of Art History provides training in the historical understanding of Western culture across various eras through the critical analysis of artworks in diverse media. The curriculum examines the connections between historical and cultural events and artistic creation, equipping students with visual discernment and critical thinking skills.

The department also offers two practical tracks in Art Therapy and Curation, taking pride in its warm, supportive atmosphere and close faculty-student relationships.

Degree Programs Offered

  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.): Available as a standard double-major track or as an accelerated two-year program preparing students for graduate studies in Art Therapy (“Psychodali” program).

  • Master of Arts (M.A.): Offered in a standard track or with a specialization in Curation. Both tracks offer two study options:

    • Track A (Thesis): Includes a research thesis.

    • Track B (Non-Thesis): Concludes with a comprehensive exam or final project.

    • Schedule: Graduate classes are held one day per week (Tuesdays) over two years, with an additional year dedicated to thesis completion.

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): Advanced doctoral research studies.
