We are delighted that many of our undergraduate graduates choose to continue their academic journeys with us in research-oriented tracks or in our specialized programs in creative writing, literary editing, and translation. At the same time, we believe that for those pursuing other professional paths, the learning experience in the Department of Hebrew and Comparative Literature plays a vital role in shaping their cultural and emotional horizons.

Every year, the Department hosts an annual conference highlighting the diverse research interests of our faculty, reflecting the interdisciplinary and multicultural foundation of our academic curriculum. Theme topics in recent years have included:

  • “Life, Biography, and Autobiography”

  • “Literature and Music”

  • “Literature and the Plastic Arts”

  • “Literature and Dreams”

  • “The City in Literature”

  • “Animals and Their Representation in Literature”

  • “Between Imagination and Memory”

  • “The Home in Literature and Culture”

The Department of Hebrew and Comparative Literature explores literary genres, movements, and historical eras, while equipping students with analytical tools for critical evaluation and literary interpretation.

You will learn to engage deeply with literary texts—whether oral or written—and build strong skills for analyzing various literary forms, including drama, prose, and poetry.
